Snowmobiling/Cross-Country Skiing/Snowshoeing/ATV’s
Wasatch Mountain State Park, in beautiful Heber Valley, is Utah’s most developed state park. Tucked away in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains, the park is both a summer and winter wonderland. Wasatch Mountain State Park is one of Utah’s unique scenic treasures. The park, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service and Utah Department of Transportation, provides facilities for snowmobilers using the canyons of the Wasatch Mountains near Midway and American Fork. Facilities include parking, restrooms, designated play areas, and approximately 70 miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails. Warming stations are available at the golf course clubhouse and park visitor center. Wasatch Mountain State Park Golf Course is closed to snowmobiling, but is open to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The chalet, a ranch-style building complete with kitchen facilities, is available for summer and winter group outings.

Picnicking/Hiking/Horseback Riding
Wasatch Mountain State Park offers picnicking, hiking and horseback riding. Park facilities include 139 camping/picnicking areas, two group-use pavilions, modern rest rooms, and utility hookups. The chalet, a ranch-style building complete with kitchen facilities, is available for summer and winter group outings. Little Deer Creek campground is an excellent area for summer group parties and reunions.

Cross-Country Skiing/Sledding/Tubing
This 2002 Olympic venue now offers world-class cross country ski trails, with sections designed for enthusiasts of all skill levels – from novice up to Olympic athlete. Other winter sports are also popular here.
Soldier Hollow was the busiest venue during the 2002 Games, hosting 23 events in biathlon, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined. The facility features a 31-kilometer trail system that includes beginner and intermediate terrain especially designed for families, “crossover” downhill skiers and first timers. With the gorgeous Mt. Timpanogos in the background, Soldier Hollow also offers the longest tubing hill lanes in Utah, snowshoe trails, Rossignol equipment demo center, ski school and ski shop. In the summer, activities include the Olympic Biathlon Experience, mountain biking, horseback riding and inline skating.
Fishing
There is excellent fly fishing on the Provo River and other nearby rivers, and excellent fishing on Strawberry, Deer Creek and Jordanelle reservoirs as do the many lakes and streams in the nearby Uinta Mountains. Winter ice fishing is very popular in this area.
World-renowned for its premier trout fishing, the Provo River offers the convenience of the outdoors just a doorstep away from Heber City. The river offers avid fishermen great day and half-day trips.

Water Sports
Situated between two excellent reservoirs, Heber provides the perfect destination for boating activities including sailing, water skiing and jet skiing. You’re just minutes from Strawberry, Deer Creek and Jordanelle reservoirs.
Deer Creek State Park and Reservoir lies in the southwest corner of beautiful Heber Valley. Warm water and predictable canyon winds make Deer Creek extremely popular for boating, wind surfing, sunbathing, swimming and sailboating. Facilities include a concrete boat launching ramp, 35-unit campground with modern rest rooms and showers, two group-use areas, sewage disposal and fish cleaning stations and paved parking area. Two concessionaires provide a restaurant, boat rentals, gasoline and sundries.
Jordanelle State Park and Reservoir is located between Park City and Heber City on US 40 (exit 8). Day-use facilities include visitor center, children’s play area, two boat ramps (one ramp for personal watercraft), three group-use pavilions, 41 day-use cabanas, two laundromats, beach house, marina store and restaurant, fish cleaning station and outdoor amphitheater.

Also, how about snorkeling and scuba diving? The area offers this as well at the Homestead Crater! Enjoy this 55 foot tall, beehive shaped ancient crater filled with 90°water year round! There is a tunnel through the rock wall at ground level with decks and a soaking area for guests and the public to access the crystal clear mineral water. You can enjoy swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling or a therapeutic soak. This is the only warm water scuba diving destination in the continental US. The Homestead Crater attracts diving enthusiasts all over the world. You can get certified here as well! Truly a unique experience!

Skiing/Snowboarding
Heber is just minutes from four area resorts, yet it is away from the bustle of the city. It is an easy drive to world-class resorts and cross-country ski areas. Hiking/Backpacking
The Uintas includes a high, pristine mountain area in northeastern Utah that is popular for hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, hunting and other outdoor activities. Much of the area is designated as a road-less wilderness where vehicles are prohibited. A few roads, and a handful of rugged 4X4 tracks, provide access to areas outside the wilderness, and to trailheads.
The mountains pick up heavy snowfall and include several areas designated for snowmobile recreation. In addition, a few trails are open to ATVs.
Heber Valley Railroad
The historic Heber Valley Railroad, 450 South 600 West, operates a turn-of-the-century steam engine that departs from Heber City and Vivian Park in Provo Canyon on regularly scheduled tours year-round. Special tours are offered centered around events or festivities. 435-654-5601.
